Open Resonator with Fragment of Circular Waveguide: Model Computation and Experiment

Abstract


A hemispherical open resonator (OR) with the fragment of circular waveguide in the centre of a flat reflector is investigated. The TE01q oscillation mode of such a resonance system is analyzed. The OR of the said geometry is experimentally studied. The existence of only one oscillation mode TE01q within the tuning range of about 12 percent in the 4-mm wavelength band is shown. In addition, an amplitude distribution of electrical field component of the studied oscillation mode has the shape of a ring. The resonator model offered describes the processes in such a resonance system with sufficient working accuracy.
