Properties of Fast Type III-like Bursts in Decameter Wavelengths

Abstract


We report about the first observations of Type III-like bursts at frequencies 10÷30 MHz. More than 1000 such bursts during 2002-2004 are analyzed. Frequency drifts of these bursts are several times of those for decameter Type III bursts. The Type III-like bursts durations are about 1-2 s. It is shown that these bursts are mainly observed within days when active region is located near the central meridian. The explanation of high values for Type III-like bursts drift rates based on taking into account both Type III electron velocity and group velocity of generated electromagnetic waves is proposed.
