Abstract

The millimeter wave radio astronomy activity at the Institute of Radio Astronomy NAS Ukraine is first endeavored to be historically shown, thus giving a clear view of the level of current observations at the RT-22 radio telescope and of the possibilities for their expansion. For the past years, highly sensitive receiving systems using the Schottky diode mixers and HEMT amplifiers operating decimeter, centimeter and millimeter wavelengths have been created. This has allowed the IRA NAS-Ukraine to launch multifrequency spectral observations and to study the nature of bipolar outflows of matter in the regions of active star formation, also to investigate the radiation of space masers on molecules of hydroxyl, methanol and water vapor. Higher space resolution of observations will be expected in the further millimeter wavelength VLBI activity.
