Abstract

A brief description of Kharkiv V. Karazin National University magnetometric facility is presented. The statistics of H and D geomagnetic field components for year 1999 (observation of 1488 hr in duration) is calculated. The statistical distributions of amplitude are shown to be different from normal distributions when averaged over 10 min and larger time intervals. Temporal variations in the sampling root mean square deviations sH and sD represent the nature of processes in geospace (geomagnetic and solar activity levels, diurnal and seasonal variations, etc.). The spectral and wavelet analyses have confirmed that the variations in the magnetometer signals H(t) and D(t) also contain valuable information on more subtle processes occurring in geospace (amplitude magnitude, pulsation periods, their durations, etc.) along with the general data on the variations in space weather.
