SHORT MULTIFREQUENCY VIBRATOR ANTENNA. II. ENGINEERING CALCULATION OF SHORT THICK VIBRATORS

Abstract


The electrostatic method of engineering calculation of short thick
vibrators is presented. This method allows to determinate
the parameters of vibrators with arm length of less than one
tenth of operating wavelength providing the vibrator’s arm lengthto-
radius ratio within 2 to 20. The equivalent circuit of such
vibrators is represented in the form of a three-element reactive
two-terminal circuit with losses. The equivalent length generating
the vibrator arm is introduced to account for the vibrator
thickness in calculation of reactive resistance components of a
series circuit, whereas the effective length generating the equivalent
vibrator arm is used to account for the vibrator thickness
in calculation of a series circuit inductance. The experimentally
tested ten models confirm the results obtained with the proposed
method.
