The Dynamics of Ionosphere Plasma over Kharkiv during the Solar Eclipse of January 4, 2011
Abstract
The results of incoherent scatter radar observations of dynamic processes at altitudes close to the F-region maximum and in the topside ionosphere, which were caused by the partial (about 0.78 magnitude) solar eclipse on January 4, 2011 near Kharkiv, are presented. It is shown that the eclipse caused ionosphere restructuring processes which are similar to a short-term nightfall. The experiment has been carried out in winter under low solar activity conditions.
