The Electromagnetic Theory of Tornado. I. Electrodynamics of a Whirlwind

Abstract

A plasma-drop mechanism of formation of a tornado, this latter being an intensive atmospheric whirlwind rotating under a thunderstorm cloud, is proposed. A tornado is considered as an attachment controllable gas discharge created in the atmosphere by a strong cloud charge in the presence of a geomagnetic field. The general theory of the atmospheric-cloud gas discharge is constructed, the electric and magnetic structures of plasma of a whirlwind under a round infinitely thin charged disk is calculated.
