Frequency-and-Angular Sounding of Traveling Ionospheric Disturbances in the Model of 3D Electron Density Waves Propagating in a Real Ionospheric Layer
Abstract
A frequency-and-angular sounding technique is suggested for diagnostics of traveling ionoshperic disturbances (TID) based on measurements of arrival angles and Doppler frequency shift variations of HF radio signals reflected from the ionosphere. The respective inverse problem was solved for a TID model in the form of 3D electron density waves propagating in a real ionospheric layer. The developed diagnostic algorithms were tested through computer simulation whose results demonstrate a high efficiency of the technology suggested.
