Toroidal Vortex as an Active Galactic Nuclei Structure Element

E. Yu. Bannikova, V. M. Kontorovich

Abstract

Actually, tori are generally accepted as essential structural components of active galactic nuclei. Discussed is the situation when the torus “twist” by radiation or wind transforms it into a dipole toroidal vortex which, in turn, can be a source of matter replenishing the accretion disk. Thus originating instability can be responsible for quasar radiation flares accompanied by matter outbursts. The parameters of a model are estimated numerically for the luminosity close to the Eddington limit. The estimates show no discrepancy against the observation data.
