Fundamental Physical Constants and their Stability, Transition to New Definitions of the SI Units

Abstract


Main trends in gravitation and cosmology, problems of fundamental physical constants, their choice, classification, number, precision of measurement and new trends of modern fundamental metrology are analyzed. Basics of gravitational-relativistic metrology are also presented. Special attention is paid to problems of Newton's gravitational constant G: its absolute value measurements and possible time and range variations. Problems of the transition to new definitions of the SI units, based fully on fundamental physical constants and expected in 2011 are analyzed.
